A Message from Heather Hind

A simple gift of LOVE in a shoe box I'm sure that by now most people understand the concept of operation Christmas Child run by the charity "The Samaritans Purse” This has a dual meaning for us this year  with  our Save the Children project

Last year the Charity with our help delivered well over a million Christmas Shoe boxes to needy children in the poorer areas of the world.  Children who have nothing at all and may never ever have received a Christmas present before. For more information on the Charity  see www.samaritanspurse.uk.com/occ or call 08700112002 or 01993770652

Simple Basic Gifts are needed to fill shoe boxes such as toothpaste, toothbrushes soap paper hankies brush comb and stationery writing/drawing materials colouring materials sweets long dated to march 2009 small safe toys especially cuddly animal toys even older children who are traumatised appreciate a small cute or life like replica animal on a key ring  a ball a game a calculator girlie things and boy type things etc. Please remember for the protection of all boxes for safety and for customs regulations

No chocolate  No army type toys

No sharp implements e g scissors compasses etc.. no liquids eg snow globes or shampoo pencil sharpeners filled with liquid etc. and REMEMBER  to include a Christmas Card and if you wish a photo of your family and pets. Please pick up a leaflet with all the details inside and start collecting your gifts.  Shoe boxes will be available each week at the back of the church.  However we are having some difficulties in finding enough boxes this year the depression - I suppose.

Please provide your own if you can and bring any surplus to Church.  Can you try to cover EXTRA BOXES and lids for us this year as we have plenty of gifts.  We are rather short of toothpaste soap and small calculators.  If you wish to donate money or gifts all will be welcome for Bring and Buy or Tom bola Gifts.

We also need old christmas cards for the children to cover some boxes. Thermal or woolly hats gloves and scarves and your loving kindness.

Shoe boxes will be blessed at the 11.00 am family mass on Sunday 30th November

Please help us to be especially GOOD SAMARITANS  this year and SUPER CARING Saints.
