On Sunday 18th January we welcomed the Bishop of Beverley to confirm and baptise. All candidates have their own faith journey to tell. Rene had attended St Matthew’s many years ago and recently began coming to services after much thought and soul searching. She was baptised and confirmed, three generations of her family being present to support her - her sons David and Paul and her grandchildren.  Three members of the Slater family were also confirmed, brother and sisters Becky, Ben and Eleanor all of whom have attended Sunday School, again three generations being present to support them, their parents and grandparents who had been confirmed at St Matthew’s some time ago. Alasdair comes from a family where both his grandfathers are priests and his father is Director of Music! Alastair was also confirmed, his younger brother and sisters looking on, along with his parents and grandparents. All candidates were strongly and lovingly supported by their family, friends and members of St Matthew’s. It was a momentous occasion with a great party in the hall afterwards and we congratulate all the candidates on the important Christian commitment they have made.
